Let Blue Hill Decide.
This petition allows Blue Hill residents to vote on whether to permit state-licensed cannabis retail sales , ensuring the process is handled locally and transparently under town rules.
Why This Matters?
Adult-use cannabis is already legal in Maine under state law, but towns must opt in before any licensed retail stores can operate locally.

FAQ
Does signing the petition mean I support cannabis sales?
No. Signing the petition does one thing only: it simply allows the question to appear on a future town ballot so residents can decide together. It does NOT approve sales or open a store, and it does NOT commit you to a yes or no vote today.
Why now?
State law requires towns to opt in before allowing retail sales. This petition allows that question to come to a public vote.
Does this mean a cannabis shop is opening?
No. Signing the petition only ensures the question appears on a future ballot for the community to decide together.
What Would a future YES or NO Vote Mean?
YES: Licensed retail stores allowed under state law, subject to local rules and zoning. Purchases can occur in Blue Hill.
NO: Licensed retail stores not permitted in Blue Hill. Residents may still use cannabis under state law but must purchase outside town.
Who can sign?
Blue Hill registered voters only.
What happens next?

2. The question is added to a future town warrant.
